The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. at No. 2, Raji Ajanaku Street, Alaja Road, Ayobo. The assault took place inside the apartment where the suspect lived with the victim and her grandchild, Master Faruk.
According to reports, the suspect is believed to be a devoted member of a notorious cult group called Aiye confraternity. In a calculated plan to murder his mother, he visited her provision store located in front of their house and summoned her to the house for an important discussion. Simultaneously, he sent his young nephew, Faruk, to purchase a white handkerchief and a stick of cigarette.
Unaware of the young man’s intentions, his cousin hurriedly went to buy the requested items. Upon returning, he discovered the woman lying in a pool of blood. He immediately raised the alarm, alerting their neighbors who came to the woman’s aid. Sadly, the woman had already succumbed to her injuries before she could be rushed to the hospital. The young boy was swiftly apprehended and handed over to the police.
This distressing incident serves as a reminder of the grave consequences of violence and highlights the importance of thorough investigations by law enforcement authorities.
