Over 276 People Killed, Lands Being Grabbed By Fulanis In Plateau, STF Commander Should Be Withdrawn-Global Society For Middle-Belt

The President of Global Society for Middle Belt Heritage , Comr. Jerry Tongle Datim and the secretary Mr. Ringsum Joshua John have expressed shock that actions should be taken on fundamental human rights of people of the zone as they demand the immediate withdrawal of the military from all checkpoints and replace them with mobile police (MOPOL) and this means the immediate removal of the GOC/STF Commander…..CONTINUE READING

Speaking during a world press conference held at Tekan headquarters on Thursday, Datim accused the military of being complicit in the unwarranted attacks and killings of innocent citizens in Plateau state.

According to him, one Buhari Saidu and others arrested with firearms should be prosecuted with immediate effect by asking the Fulanis to vacate our ancestral land with immediate effect.

He lamented that SEMA and NEMA only function in a few states and they should come to the aid of those displaced immediately. Sector 8 STF should produce those three phones snatched at Mangu police station with immediate effect.

“We want to know if the son of the Secretary of Miyetti Allah has been charged to court for persecution. While waiting for the vacation of the Fulanis, from our ancestral farmlands, any subsequent attack on any community now henceforth, the Ardos will be held responsible for harboring the assailants.

The Federal Government should see to the welfare and security of the over thirty thousand displaced persons scattered across the state, he said .

We are all calling on the Plateau State traditional council to find a lasting solution to this “attack and occupy” tactics which are known as land grabbing. Also, Sheik Yahaya Jengre should be arrested, investigated, and prosecuted for any role in the attacks on the Plateau and no religious leaders should be above the law.

We want our people to be returned to their ancestral land with immediate effect because they are agrarians (farmers).

We are calling on interested stakeholders, those parties with interest in this conflict who don’t suffer any direct impact both short term and medium term to desist from escalating the conflict through insinuations thereby adding more salt to our injuries. We are equally calling on our youths not to become agents of these conflict merchants because we can fish them out easily.

Since the Federal Government under Buhari and the State government under Lalong had failed to safeguard the basic right of the Plateau people, we have no option but to ask our people to defend themselves against their attackers, Moreso as found in the words of retired General T. Y. Danjuma that “the army has colluded with the militias”.

We will like to thank the police and the DSS for their ethical sincerity, transparency, and professionalism in handling the situation. We will like to again thank the Plateau ethnic nationalist for their prayers in our trying moment, may God deepen our unity.

We will like to thank other sister states for their concern and sympathy rendered to us during our moment of grief.

Our thanks go to the Executive Governor Plateau State, the current House of Assembly, Gbong Gwom, Jos, and the Chairman Plateau State Traditional Council for being proactive towards issues on the Plateau as well as the media for your prompt reportage.

It was reported to STF Murish in which no action was taken. On the 5th of June, 2023, the Fulani destroyed a local’s farmland in Shimilang, two STF Hilux (C7 and S5) belonging to STF moved the cattle by Sector 8, while at Mangu Police Station in the presence of those on the ground.

Three phones were seized from youths by the soldiers from Sector 8. On the same fateful day at Yilpo (Sabon Gari), one Buhari Saidu who was accused as the suspect that killed the Dogari (Wetle) was apprehended by the V.G.N. Commander of Mangu District with an AK-47 loaded with ammunition.

He was handed over to the FOB Gyambwus and until now there is no information about him. On the same day, two of our youths were gunned down at Kwahaslalek Village, one died while the other sustained injury; a Fulani boy made a call to the mother of the deceased using the deceased phone, asking her to come over and pick up her children’s corpses.

Still on the role of the STF; whenever ethnic locals report happenings to the STF officers, the investigation will not be carried out and it will fall on deaf ears on the other hand issues or reports concerning Fulani when reported to the STF, will be immediately swinging into actions by conducting a thorough search or investigation on the locals, e.g. the 7th June 2023 episodes, where Fulani reported to STF on the ethnic locals of Fan in Barkin Ladi, eight (8) amour vehicles were seen at Fan conducting house to house search on the community.

Two series of security meetings were held at Mangu with high-security apparatus in attendance, the traditional leaders, and top stakeholders. We were told to permit the Fulanis to go back to their homes. But the question here is, were we the ones that displaced them or were they not the ones that invited their brothers to join forces against us?

On the 28th of May 2023, after the early attack on Kantoma and Nangul, the Fulani still came back to burn churches and houses. When a distress call came in and some Fulani youths were apprehended prominent among them was the son of the Miyeti-Allah Secretary who was said to come from Lo-Geri behind Were-village of Dorowa in Barkin Ladi LGA. This happened to be the village where the Fulani stored their arms and they are using it to attack the locals. Also, at Milet in Mangu LGA, the Fulani have another store where weapons are stocked.

On Friday the 9th of June 2023, another arrest of two Fulani youths of less than 20 years of age took place in Jwak-Maitumbi in Mangu Local Government where these youths were arrested with AK 47 Riffle loaded with ammunition and were handed over to the police. We’ve not heard of how they have been arraigned in court for their criminal offenses.

On Tuesday the 13th of June 2023 around 3:00 pm, there was a gunshot at Heipang airport roundabout by unknown gunmen, on the arrival of the STF team they shot one of the locals who is currently on admission for Bullet wounds sustained at Dr. Damulak Hospital in Heipang. Later in the night, four people were killed in Chit in Heipang by the Fulani militias for no provocation.

Looting of food items, animals, and building materials by the Fulani militias. It is glaring that food items were seen looted by the Fulanis for example in Kikyau, marauders in the presence of the soldiers looted building materials, and fertilizers belonging to the locals with their names on top…..CONTINUE READING
