Video: Causes, symptoms and preventions of premature ageing

According to Healthline, as you get older, your body’s internal processes slow down and take longer to complete or recharge, from skin cell turnover to workout recovery. This allows for the development of ageing symptoms such as wrinkles and fatigue.

These changes may be unexpected if they occur sooner than expected, hence the term “premature” ageing.

It’s impossible to completely avoid these changes, but there are ways to reduce the signs of ageing in your body, especially when they occur faster than they should occur.
Causes of Premature Aging.

Different factors influence how quickly these signs appear on your body.

1. Tobacco Use

Toxins in cigarette smoke cause oxidative stress in your skin. Dryness, wrinkles, and other signs of premature ageing result from this.

2. Sun exposure and tanning.

UV rays are absorbed by your skin as a result of tanning beds and sun exposure. These rays cause wrinkles by damaging the DNA in your skin cells.

3. Genetics

Some extremely rare genetic conditions can cause you to show signs of ageing in childhood and early puberty. These are referred to as progeria.

4. Diet.

According to some studies, eating a diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates can cause skin damage over time.

5. Caffeine and alcohol consumption.

Excessive alcohol consumption dehydrates the body. Dehydration can cause your skin to sag and lose its shape over time.

Caffeine may have a similar effect, though research is mixed on whether daily coffee consumption causes wrinkles.

According to Healthline, everyone’s ageing process is unique, but certain signs of ageing are considered “premature” if they appear before the age of 35.

1. Skin that is dry or itchy

Dry or itchy skin (xerosis cutis) may become more common over time. This is because thinning skin is more prone to dehydration.

As you approach your forties (40s) you may notice that your skin becomes drier and more prone to flaking.

2. wrinkles or sagging

As you enter your 30s, your skin’s production of collagen, the protein that gives your skin shape, slows. Collagen is responsible for your skin’s ability to bounce back and remain plump. With less collagen in the skin, visible wrinkles and sagging are more likely.

3. Loss of hair

Hair loss occurs when the stem cells that stimulate new hair growth in your hair follicles die. Hormone fluctuations, environmental factors, genetics, and your diet all influence how quickly this occurs.

Hair loss affects up to 40% of women over the age of 70. Men experience it earlier, with 50% experiencing hair loss after the age of 50.
Ways to Prevent Premature Aging.

1 Maintain a healthy diet.

A well-balanced diet ensures that your body receives all of the nutrients it requires to produce healthy skin cells.

2. Maintain proper hydration

Dehydration can hasten the appearance of wrinkles. To keep your body hydrated, drink 8 cups of water per day.

3. Exercise regularly.

Exercise regularly improves circulation, which keeps your skin healthy. This may make your skin appear younger.

4. Quit smoking.

You will give your skin more time to repair itself if you stop exposing it to the toxins in cigarette smoke.
