I Never Watched Porn, Drank Alcohol, or Lived Wildly, so What Did I Do?

I often get asked this question, ‘Renuka, why don’t you live more? Why don’t you enjoy life and take over the world?’

Firstly these questions are offensive because;

a) You are no one to stalk someone’s life and then have the audacity to ask them ‘Why are they living the way they do.’

b) I don’t owe anyone an explanation. It’s like you are jumping in my space and distracting me.

Now keep this aside, let me tell you why I get such comments.

Because I never lived like a teenager or someone in her early 20s should live.

I never watched porn in my entire life. Never. Not even when I was in college and all my friends forced me to at least see ‘how it’s done.’

Yes, writing it is quite embarrassing, and funny. But I want to let my feelings out.

I never touched alcohol even when I was made fun of ‘for not drinking.’

And I never had a boyfriend even when all my friends had and they used to convince me to have one too.

But why am I telling you this?

No, I don’t want to paint myself as a saint. Because I am not.

The purpose of this article is not to show you how great I am or what a simple life I led. No!

The purpose of this article is to show you — our generation is being manipulated to push themselves into the worst of the bad habits and then call it ‘living wildly.’

How?
1. The New Idea of ‘Living Wildly’ & The Impact on Teenagers:

Call me judgmental or aunty, whatever you like.

But I strongly believe American movies are bullsh*it that are on the mission of promoting an ‘unhealthy lifestyle’ so much so that if you are not doing ‘what they show teenagers should be doing then you are a dumb-innocent-weird kid.’

I dare you to pick any American movie or book and you will find these things:

a) Drunk teenagers who think becoming 16 is a sign of adultery and now they are free to finally taste alcohol and party hard.
