Stillbirth occurs when a fetus dies after a woman’s 20th week of pregnancy. In such cases, the baby might have died in the uterus. Such a thing can happen weeks or hours before labor. Stillbirth is still occurring as of today.

Stillbirth is one of the negative ways women lose their baby in the womb. Research shows stillbirth occurs in one of 160 births. Close to 24,000 babies die per year because of stillbirths in the United States of America alone.

Stillbirth can happen to any pregnant woman of any age, background or ethnicity. It can be unpredictable, people still find it hard to explain why such a thing happens.

But from my research, there are some ways you can reduce

the risk of stillbirth as a pregnant woman. If you do any of these following, there are chances you might have a stillbirth when pregnant.

1. Smoking, drinking alcohol and taking hard drugs when pregnant.

2. You have poor prenatal care.

3. You are malnourished

4. Likewise, you suffer from preexisting health condition or are obese with body mass index above 30.

Furthermore, you should understand the difference between a stillbirth and a miscarriage.
